Panoramas of the World

Milford Track I (New Zealand)

The Milford Track leads from Te Anau up to Sandfly Point at the Milford Sound through the Fjordland National Park in the south of the South Island of New Zealand.

The Milford Track is considered to be one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the world. Because of limited accomodations (huts), the number of hikers allowed is restricted. For this reason, early registration is essential. Camping is strictly forbidden. It is a four day hike, but the breath-taking landscape is well worth it. The Mackinnon Pass (panorama picture),which is the highlight of the track, can be crossed on the second day of the walk. The view into the valley and over the summits makes up for the steep climb.
