Panoramas of the World

Lake Matheson (New Zealand)

Lake Matheson is one of the most-photographed lakes in New Zealand. It is about a few kilometers away from Fox Glacier, in the Alps of Westland National Park on the South Island of New Zealand.

You have get up very early in the morning to see how the majestic Alps are reflected in Lake Matheson, and in order to experience how the morning fog slowly rises from the water and changes gradually into a pink color by the sunbeams. This panorama picture was taken on the way to the lake. Very early in the morning, the water surface is completely smooth and represents the perfect mirror.
