Panoramas of the World

Piazza della Scala (Milan)

Milan is particularly well-known for its opera (Scala), which is located here at the Piazza della Scala. It was built in 1778, originally without any seats. The audience had to stand.

In the Second World War, the building was destroyed by bombs, but re-built immediately after the end of war. The Scala is a landmark of the city and stands for its cultural life.
