Panoramas of the World

Western Wall (Jerusalem)

The Western Wall (Wailing Wall, Kotel) is a very important Jewish religious site located in the Old City of Jerusalem.

Jews come here and place slips of paper containing written prayers into the crevices of the Wall. The term Western Wall commonly refers to a 57 meter exposed section of an ancient wall situated on the western flank of the Temple Mount. The wall is about 18 meters high.
